Twin Fin

The name of the wine is Twin Fin and it refers, not to the fins of fish as one might expect but the fins on a large, open top old fashioned convertible Cadilac. The idea of the winemakers is to make a wine that epitomizes the California free style of living. In simple words the winemakers are later day “Beach Boys.”

The free spirit of the Australian trained winemakers is superbly translated into the wines they make. These are true California wines, full of fruit, flavor and smiles. You get the feeling of fresh sea air, a warm summer day, riding in open convertibles with surf boards hanging out the back, beach parties and all that goes with the free style of California living with each sip. This freshness and freeness runs through all of the varieties they make almost as though they have an addiction for it. What ever the source of the magic, these are interesting and exciting wines that happen to sell for the very affordable price of $9.99. Have we perked your interest? Read on.

Twin Fin 2006 California Sunset Rosé ($9.99). This wine is somewhat of a paradox; a true California rosé made from a very Italian grape, the sangiovese. This grape is famous for some of the finest wines coming out of Italy, but unfortunately, it has not been fully accepted by the  California grape growers and winemakers. This wine may just change all of that. While this wine is a rosé, it is not in the style of most of the American rosé wines, super sweet. While there is a bit of residual sweetness in the wine, it is not over powering or cloying. It is the flavor and aroma that makes this wine special. The aroma is resplendent with rhubarb and vanilla, the flavor a fiesta of strawberries. Never has there been a wine that celebrates summer outdoor living as does the Twin Fin 2006 California Sunset Rosé

Twin Fin 2006 California Cabernet Sauvignon ($9.99).  Again, it was the free spirited summertime life so loved by the winemakers that inspired this wine and resulted in a soft, easy to drink cabernet sauvignon that needs no time to age away any rough edges. This wine has an upfront berry-like flavor that showcases cherry and blackberry, with a hint of dark raisins in the background. This is the ideal wine for those grilled steaks that have become popular at backyard barbeques. Try this wine; we are sure you will love it.

Twin Fin 2006 California Merlot ($9.99). Merlot is one of America's favorite red wines and the Twin Fin 2006 California Merlot proves that out. This vintage has plenty of cherry/berry flavor and aroma, as well as an earthy element in the background that adds depth and complexity. Unlike many other wines in this price category, this merlot has a moderately long finish. This wine can accompany a wide variety of red meat dishes especially if they are grilled.

Twin Fin 2006 California Syrah ($9.99). Syrah is gaining in popularity in this country as the "go with everything" wine because of its ability to accompany a broad spectrum of foods. The Twin Fin 2006 California Syrah is a fine example of the varieties possibilities. It is a full-bodied, dark red wine with a ripe fresh raspberry flavor and a soft, velvety feeling in the mouth. If you have never tried a syrah, this wine is an excellent introduction to it.

Twin Fin 2006 California Chardonnay ($9.99). This wine is a big and happy exception to the basic rule that the moderately priced chardonnay wines are usually light, flimsy things with none of the true chardonnay flavor and little or nothing at all to make them standout. While the Twin Fin 2006 California Chardonnay may be in the easily affordable category, the wine is nothing at all like others in the same price range. This wine represents the true classical chardonnay aromas of apple & pear. In the mouth these aromas give way to tropical fruits and melon, perfectly combined with a light, mild oak. Twin Fin 2006 California Chardonnay is a really delightful wine that can serve as a mealtime beverage or as an aperitif.
